SPEAKUP

Why are we Speak Up? – English Nursery School – Bilingual Kindergarten

Everyday communication in English and bilingual teaching in our English Nursery School is the quality that make us recognizable for years.

For many years of working experience with pre-school children, we can say that optimal period for starting to learn the second language is from the third year of age. We primarily focus on the factor of attention which is very important element while working with children.

The key for arousing children’s attention is inner motivation. We motivate children through absolute physical and vocal animation of content, which is the main characteristic of our work with children.

In primary group levels of English teaching, children adopt basic elements through the sense of hearing and mimics, simulating teacher’s speech. Children learn English, step by step, through constant activation and exercise.

We constantly motivate children, for the purpose of active participation and better communication.
Teaching English language is an integral part of our facility through everyday activities and communication, provided by our plan and program. We enable children to use the learned knowledge in a real life. We motivate active knowledge of English language. Nevertheless, we practice speaking and pronunciation through various activities:

  • PLAYING (in working rooms, in the backyard, in sports rooms, during the walk, during the meal etc.)
  • SINGING (every teaching unit is a new song, recitation, counting, dance etc.)
  • DRAWING and SCULPTING ( expressing children’s inner world through different techniques, through painting , and material usage)
  • CREATIVE WORK ( workshops and projects that enable children to communicate and be more and more familiar with the second language)
  • DRAMATIZATION (acting and disguising incite children’s creativity and imagination).

To summarize, working with children imply adequate audio-visual aids (flash cards, posters, various art materials, puppets, musical instruments etc.)

Concerning our levels of knowledge, in nursing age we listen to English lullabies and we learn basic primary communication in English (greeting). In higher levels of knowledge, the scope of vocabulary is widened.
All groups are participating actively showing their knowledge through various manifestations in our facility and in other manifestations such as: Novosadska Jesen, Novogodišnje Čarolije na Spensu, Zmajeve Dečije Igre etc.
